Looking through a glass sliding door, a small black and wooden mobile sauna is viewed outside on a grassy yard with trees in the background. Indoor items include a wood stove, woven baskets, and potted plants.
A scenic outdoor campsite during sunset with several vans, tents, and camping equipment, surrounded by green hills and trees, with people and a dog visible.

FAQs

  • Whether you want the sauna for a day, a weekend or longer, all of our packages includes the Wandering Sauna itself, logs, essential oils, a selection of outdoor festoon lights, setup and cleanup, and one of our professional attendants for the full duration.

In addition, all packages include the Willowly Shower. Please note, however, the shower does require access to a tap within 50 metres and that water pressure may vary based on distance and the water system it connects to.

Our handmade chestnut and hessian outdoor changing and clothes/belongings storage area is also included, as is the sauna’s safety equipment (fire extinguisher, etc.), a burns first aid kit, and a drinks station stocked with fresh water.

An additional fee is required for delivery and collection dependant on the combined distance to and from your location. This is £100 as standard, plus £1 per mile from/to TQ12 6NZ beyond the first ten miles.

Upon request, we can also include our 4-metre canvas belltent (which works perfectly as an indoor changing area, a crèche, or just a hangout space), our 15 × 12m stretch tent, and/or our fire pit and set of deck chairs. Please enquire for the pricing of these additional features.

  • Access should include enough room for a 5m 4×4 vehicle and a 5m towed trailer horsebox. Gates and entrances must be at least 2.2m (7’ 3”) wide, with ample space for turning and manoeuvring.

The height of the sauna is 3.2m (10’ 5”), and so any bridges, overhanging cables or other overhead obstacles must not be lower than this height.

Please inform us if you are unsure about any aspect of the access for delivery and collection, or relevant details about nearby lanes, etc. This is hugely helpful when navigating Devon’s twisty lanes.

The site chosen for the sauna must be a flat as possible, and without a canopy of trees (or anything else) above it. It should also be a safe distance from buildings, vehicles or other hazards. In addition, there should be ample space (at least 5”) in all directions around the sauna.

  • The sauna seats eight people at a time sitting closely together or six with plenty of space for stretching out. It's recommended that each sauna session is no longer than about 15-20 mins per person.

This means the sauna fits about 24 sessions per hour, in theory meaning up to 144 sessions in a six hour period. For larger events, it is key to spread the use so everyone can have one or two sessions each.

  • Everyone using the sauna is requested to:

    1. Have a shower and rinse feet before entering

    2. Wear swimming costume/shorts only (never shoes)

    3. Use a towel to sit on in the sauna at all times

    4. Not exceed eight people in the sauna at once

    5. Stay in for no more than 20 minutes at a time

    6. Always stay hydrated, and always avoid use if unwell

    7. Never drink alcohol or consume drugs in the sauna

    8. Never take any foreign objects into the sauna

  • Generally, the sauna is ready to light up about 10-20 mins after arrival, with a further 40-60 required before it’s ready to use. When we receive your booking request - or after further details are discussed - we will give you our estimated arrival time as well as the agreed session time (when you and your guests will be able to use it).

The sauna takes between 30 and 90 minutes to cool down and clean. Again, this time will be estimated following your booking request, and we are happy to work to your preferred schedule as best as possible.

  • Willy’s Wandering Sauna is a small family business and it is likely that one of us will attend to the sauna ourselves.

This means the attendant to the sauna for your event will either be Sam or Jonty or a trusted staff member.

Everyone who attends to our sauna has received extensive training, both in running the sauna and emergency protocol.

In addition, all our attendants are first aid trained and certified, giving you complete peace of mind.
